OFFICERS’ REPORTS

Secretary’s report: Secretary Sandy Steever passed out AMCC packets (minutes of the 155th meeting, sanction calendar, agenda for the 156th meeting). Contact information was also distributed.

In the period since the 155th meeting, the Secretary sent out (1) requests for annual certification letters from member clubs; (2) a call for requests for sanction dates for member club events; and (3) a request that member clubs provide the Historian information on their club’s founding date. The Secretary was pleased to report that all clubs had delivered their certification letters by the Meeting on February 27. Several sanction requests were received and founding dates are being provided on an ongoing basis.

When TBLC of Virginia submitted its 2008 certification on January 21, 2008, the letter indicated that the club had a total of seven full members. In accordance with the Articles of Agreement (VI.D), TBLC was restored to full voting member status effective January 21, 2008. Congratulations on the club-building effort.

In December 2007 the Secretary received information that Don Craver, a former AMCC President, had passed away. A letter of condolence was sent out to his partner, John B, on behalf of Council and its member clubs.

Member clubs were exhorted to advise the Secretary and the Web Master of any changes in contact information for their club, their Captain/President, and their Representative.

Treasurer’s report: Treasurer Victor Skolnik indicated that Council had a cash balance of $1,440.90. He also announced that AMCC patches were once again available to member clubs.

Vice President’s report: Vice President Steven James indicated that no report was being made at this time.

President’s report: President Mel Jacobs asked those present to help make the benefits of Council membership more apparent, relevant and valuable to the member clubs. Members were encouraged to communicate this message within their own clubs and to other clubs seeking membership in Council.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Outreach Committee: An All-Club Bar Night is to be held April 5, 2008 at the Red Star Saloon in Reading, Pennsylvania, with the Reading Railmen hosting. Half of the funds raised are to be contributed to a charity designated by the Reading Railmen; half goes to the AMCC. Information on lodging and transportation was provided. Come one, come all.

Historian’s Committee: The Historian offered some reminiscences of the late Don Craver, a former President of Council. Don held the Presidency from 1978-80, and was instrumental in rebuilding Council in the aftermath of the 1976 All-Club Run in Atlantic City. Through his efforts, he persuaded clubs that had left Council to rejoin and he encouraged and mentored new clubs to join, bringing a new sense of stability and vitality to Council. A professor at TowsonState, he had a fine collection of first editions. He was a member of, and a major force in, the ShipMates Club of Baltimore.

Web Committee: The Web Master indicated that a link to Membership Flyer and FAQs about Council as well as founding dates could be found on the bottom of the member club page on the AMCC Web site (www.AMCC76.org). Attention was drawn to Highwaymen TNT’s new web site (www.trashandtravel.com); members were warned to avoid the old web site which appears to have been infected with a virus.

OLD BUSINESS

Amendments and Additions to the sanction calendar

One request was made to amend the date of sanction events. Centaur MC requested that the dates for Olympia be changed to August 29, 2008 through September 1, 2008.

Three additions were requested to the existing sanction calendar. TBLC of VA requested July 25-27, 2008. The Pennsmen requested June 13-15, 2008. The Philadelphians MC requested October 31 through November 2, 2008.

Twilight Guard moved, and Spartan MC seconded, a motion to accept these amendments and additions. The motion passed.

“Committee for People Games”

A request was made to extend the date for the report of this ad hoc committee until the 158th Meeting in Reading, Pennsylvania. (The committee was constituted to develop guidelines for people events at runs and other events that will take into account the maturity of participants, and propose not as vigorous/competitive events as are often encountered.)

Reminder of Upcoming AMCC Meetings

Member clubs were reminded that the 157th Meeting will be held on Fire Island, New York on May, 17, 2008 and the 158th Meeting will be held in Reading, Pennsylvania on October 11, 2008. As the schedule of Council Meetings now stands, nominations for AMCC officers for 2009-2011 are to be submitted at the 158th Meeting.

NEW BUSINESS

No new business was raised from the floor.
